This is a tough one for me. Was Jacob expected to hate Esau? Was Rebecca expect to hate him too?

This is a tough one for me. Was Jacob expected to hate Esau? Was Rebecca expect to hate him too?

It means in relation to God's revealed will. We are to hate what God forbids as being contrary to his moral law. We are not permitted to hate other people.
