Ok, here we go - Conference Championship Week. I have chosen from among the FBS games available - that is, all the conference championship games (some aren't expected to be close but I wanted to include all of them) as well as some others that should provide close contests. Again, this is the last week to qualify for the Big Bowl Bash, so get your picks in! And to repeat the warning in the subject line, there is a Friday game in the mix, so picks must be made by Friday 20:00 Eastern. All times Eastern as usual:

14 Stanford vs. 11 USC: FRIDAY 20:00 PAC12 Championship, in Santa Clara

All others Saturday:

Akron vs. Toledo: 12:00 MAC Championship, in Detroit
16 Memphis at 12 Central Florida: 12:00 AAC Championship, at UCF
North Texas at Florida Atlantic: 12:00 C-USA Championship, at FAU
Massachusetts at Florida International: 12:00 (Regular FBS game)
10 Texas Christian vs. 2 Oklahoma: 12:30 Big 12 Championship, Arlington, TX
Georgia Southern at Coastal Carolina: 13:00 (Regular FBS game - in case anyone was curious)
4 Auburn vs. 6 Georgia: 16:00 SEC Championship, Atlanta, GA
Troy at Arkansas State: 19:30 (Regular FBS game)
7 Miami vs. 1 Clemson: 20:00 ACC Championship, Charlotte, NC
25 Fresno State at Boise State: 21:45 MWC Championship, at Boise State

Tie Breaker:
8 Ohio State vs. 3 Wisconsin: 20:00 B1G Championship, Indianapolis, IN

I'll pick USC since they honor Robert E. Lee's horse over the Stanford Indian.

Northwest Ohio Toledo over Northeast Ohio Akron.

Underdog Memphis since that's where Piggly Wiggly started over Central Florida best known for its Muslim militants.

I'll take FAU over UNT just to throw off those that thought I'd pick the local team.

FIU over the yankees.

Okies over Texas (not really)Christian University.

Georgia Southern in honor of the late, great Erk Russell over Coastal Carolina

The turkey buzzards may be favored, but I'll lie down with the Dawgs over the cats in the re-match. Let's see if I end up with fleas.

Troy beat LSU. I'll take them over Arkansas State.

Clemson and Miami? Go Pitt! Go Syracuse! But if I have to pick, I'll go with Mark Richt and Miami

Never did like that blue field. Fresno State.

Tie Breaker:
Ohio State 14 vs. Wisconsin 35
Because the state of Ohio doesn't deserve two championship wins, and I'll guarantee that they'll have one in the bag before the TOSU - Wisconsin kickoff.

.

Piggly Wiggley, I remember the first time I saw one and thought how strange a name that was.

Also I agree that blue field is horrible looking, though it does stand out.

Akron
16 Memphis
Florida Atlantic
Massachusetts
2 Oklahoma
Georgia Southern
6 Georgia

A WILD Weekend of games ... and we have a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard this week - with none of the three correctly picking the tiebreaker game. Two of us had Wisconsin winning by a field goal, and one (yours truly) by six points. Here's what i've decided to do to break this tie - none of the three have a particularly compelling pick - Doug's in some sense was closest, but formulas that work great for choosing a best pick when the picker gets the winner correct don't do the best in this situation.

So, I'm making an executive decision - i.e. calling an audible - and declaring the winner to be GreenBaggins, since both Doug and I are already in the Big Bowl Bash competition. So congratulations to Lane, and to all the weekly winners. Summary of this week and all weeks follows:

GreenBaggins: 9 :flamingscot:

Details of the Big Bowl Bash will be sent out late this week. We will use all 41 games including both rounds of the 4-team playoffs. Rather than have a free-for-all in terms of weighting games, I'm going to assign weights to each game - some worth 1 point, others 2, 4, and 8. Exact terms will come as I set up the pool. Looking forward to a fun-filled December! Thanks to all who have played, and congratulations to all who are continuing onward!

Update: I am correcting the above - I didn't realize one of the games is played on the Lord's Day, December 24. As such, I am removing it from the list, leaving a total of 40 games for the contest.

As long as my wikipedia page properly indicates, with asterisk, that I was technical winner of this weeks pick'em challenge, I'm okay with it. I was starting to think that it had something to do with the fact that I'm in B1G country but since Lane isn't from SEC country i'll let it slide.

Without naming names, I'm glad you are willing to put more effort into the bowl season than the guy who did it last year. I was afraid we weren't going to get to pick the Frisco Bowl (as opposed to the Frisco championship game).

My Brian set up a nice weekend for us to celebrate our anniversary. Now he has to spend part of it watching the Rose Bowl with me. He's a good sport. Go Dawgs!
