Standings after a tumultuous December 28:

Sola Scriptura: 26
Edward: 24
Edm + Greenbaggins: 21
earl40 + toddpedlar: 20

Looks like the separation is starting to occur (but there are lots of points still out on the table with our first Tier-4 game tonight between Ohio State and Southern Cal)

YES! No matter how this turns out, I can rest easy knowing that for one day I held the lead!

I am, as well. I remember him giving me a hard time a few years ago when I was slow posting results. He needs an opportunity to show how it should be done. :)

See, I'm not sure I want the burden of being in charge. Its easier, and more fun, to tell others how they could be doing it better. ;)

Here's the update after the games of 12/29... the lead is stretching out a bit (but still we're all in it)! (and by the way - in case whoever wins doesn't feel like they want to be stuck with the responsibility of planning and executing the weekly contest next season, I am very happy to do it again - it fits my schedule well and I genuinely enjoy doing it. So know that that offer is on the table)

Standings out of a possible 48 points allotted so far:

Sola Scriptura - 38
Edward - 34
toddpedlar - 30
earl40 - 28
Greenbaggins & Edm - 27

Looks like Ben and I each went 1-1 on the Taxslayer and Liberty Bowls. We both have Penn State and Wisconsin, so no change between the two of us today. Looks like Earl is the only one with a chance to gain ground the rest of the day with Miami.

My prediction is that the Big Ten wins its remaining 3 bowl games, ending the bowl season with a 100% win rate.

There ain't NO WAY Miami beats Wisconsin!

I guess Washington doesn't have a chance to beat Penn State then?

No more chance than Iowa State had against Memphis.

I was just looking at Ben's picks and my picks for today. I'll just leave the official scoring to you. In glancing at the picks, I didn't spot anyone but Earl with Miami. I didn't look at anything else.

Point is Edward that Edm and I would gain on you and Ben if Washington beats Penn State - so there are two avenues for people gaining on you :)

Well, all of you are helped by the fact that I went out on a limb and picked UCF over Auburn. Mostly because I'm a fan of Frost...

I'm no mathematician, but as I look at it, I don't see that there is enough of a point spread at this point to overcome whoever ends up winning the championship. Getting the champion correct also means that you got one of the semi-finals correct, and together that is 16 points. If we keep the same basic spread we presently have, anyone is within striking distance of winning.

I was going to wait til I could write a really comprehensive note, but the contest is over - in that the winner of the national championship game doesn't matter. Whether Georgia or Alabama wins, Edward wins -

The current standings, after all but the championship game, are:

toddpedlar 38
earl40 42
Edm 51
Greenbaggins 53
Sola Scriptura 54
Edward 60

Ben (SS) and I are done, as we both picked both semifinals incorrectly. Earl40, Greenbaggins, and Edm are all too far behind to win, regardless of the outcome of the final. If Georgia wins, all but Edm will advance 8 points (so Edward wins with 68 over Greenbaggins at 61 second place). If Alabama wins, Edward wins 60-59 over Edm in second place.

If UCF had lost, the semifinal games would have been a lot more interesting (well, and if the SEC hadn't won both semifinals, things still would be interesting!)

I'll give an official wrapup next Tuesday, but this is how it went :)

Todd

Well, congratulations to Edward! He nipped at my heels the entire time until he finally, in a great burst, raced past me. He's the best prognosticator of the year!

A hearty "thank you" to Todd for stepping in and managing this year's College Football Pick'em several weeks into the contest. You did a fantastic job!

Yes, thanks. My first year to participate nd I really enjoyed it. Even had my wife asking me how it was looking and making fun of some of my picks.

So Edward do you fish?

Final Score Report:

I had an early morning today (and foolishly thought Georgia would hang on when I stopped paying attention) so I missed the improbable comeback. (and forgive me, brethren, but I really had very little interest in the SEC championship game #2)

Again, here are the final scores after all is said and done. Edward has ascended to the championship trophy stand, and has the privilege of running the show next year, presuming he wants it :) Congratulations, Edward!

Edward: 60
Edm: 59
SolaScriptura: 54
Greenbaggins: 53
Earl: 42
toddpedlar: 38

Ben and I have the distinct honor of having missed both semifinals (and therefore obviously the final). We should receive some prize too! :)

OK Ben and Todd give me an address so I can send your participation "trophy". :)

Congratulations Edward. As my youngest so says, “hey, I won in second place”

Let's close out this season with a word of congratulations to the National Champs this year - the University of Central Florida Knights. Undefeated.
