I think I will wait till Edward The Greek picks.

Don't wait that long - I'm not going to pick this week. I do plan to offer some commentary after the picks close but before the results come in so you all can either get some digs in (if I'm wrong) or thank me for sitting on the bench this week.

Looking at these picks, it seems that Texas has totally lost its luster as a football program. Not that my neighbor with "Texas" lawn furniture would ever admit that proposition.

The new coach this year seems to be turning the program around. The program sank pretty low over the last few years (16 - 21 under the former coach.) At least the A&M coach managed to go 24-15 in his last 3 full seasons before he was fired.

Still missing a couple. If anyone changes anything between now and the first kickoff, please PM me as well as changing it on here.

As for my comments, as promised.

FSU really is that bad this year; Vandy and Texas are better than most folks are willing to credit. And as bad as the Pac10 South is, Stanford is the best of a bad lot and should be competitive.

To get started, I would have missed with Vandy and Northern Illinois, but hit with Texas and Stanford. Maybe FSU isn’t really THAT bad this year (but they are still really bad) but Nebraska certainly appears to be. Stupid play of the week goes to the Dawgs.

That being said

Patrick 9 and taking the tiebreaker (even hitting the Texas score exactly) :flamingscot:

EdM 9
BilltheBaptist 8
Mark 8
Lane 8
Ben G 8
Earl 8
BenD 7 (and the only other one to pick the Longhorns)
Todd 7

As a group, I am happy none of us pick teams for a living. LOL

This season, I think we're probably doing about as good of a job as the bookies. Look at some of the blowouts in games I chose because they were supposed to be close. And then games I didn't use, like Oklahoma - Army.

I'll get up the new list this evening.

Edward -

In your accounting do you take the first 14 games, total them, and then look to the tiebreaker game only to break ties between those who have the same score after the 14? Or do you count the totals out of 15, and then use the tiebreak game?

If you count the first 14 only for the first go-around, then I have Mark Edwards at a total of 10 correct picks, and Patrick with 9. (and Ben D and I both have 8 in either case). Something seems a bit haywire.

Edward - I think you have Ben G and me confused... I mistakenly picked TCU, not Texas... he picked Texas. And by my count I have 8 regardless.

First you all complain about me getting the various Michigans mixed up, then you complain about me getting the various Bens mixed up.

In short, yes. That's the way that I've read the interactions between rows 36 and 38. If it didn't get counted with the other 14, I would have thought row 36 would have been omitted and the results for the 15th game only would have showed up under 38.

I know, I know… We can’t stop quibbling. What difference does it make anyway... after all, we are both pastors and we both have beards. :hunter:
