Touchstone Conference with Rod Dreher and Russell Moore

Dre Rod came to Monroe, La. about 4-5 years ago. This was before he published The Option and became a superstar. I had a chance to hear him speak but forgot about it.

Mr. Rod "We've lost the culture war so let's take up the Benedict Option and pull out and not even try" Dreher, and Mr. Russell "Jesus was an illegal alien and Mary was an unwed teenage mother, and I invited Hillary to speak but will call Trump voters sinful racist Rednecks, and other Tweets to virtue-signal by" Moore.

Is the speaking engagement called, "What's wrong with American Christianity: two case-studies?"

I find it amusing that Jerry Falwell Jr. is the only person in mainstream evangelicalism with the intestinal fortitude to call out Moore by name. Meanwhile, Al Mohler, who unleashed Moore on us, seems to only be capable of making vague, passive aggressive denouncements of SJW wokism without actually mentioning who is promoting these cultural movements.

Yes. I confess that I never read or listen to Al Mohler simply because I don't trust who he supports and covers for (Moore and Mahaney), and therefore, don't trust him totally. It all seems like internal politics of the Evangelical-Industrial Complex. .

Mohler was good back in the day. He did a fair job in calling attention to the dangers of postmodernity, but as they say, generals always fight battles from the last war. That's why he never was able to give a good criticism of wokism and his books, no doubt good, don't really address the crises of the day.

Moore is an even bigger tragedy, since he is probably the finest preacher I've ever heard. Had he stayed a preacher, he could have had a megachurch that preaches at least 4 out of the 5 points of Calvinism.

Yes I’m sure politics has a lot to do with it, as does the so-called eleventh commandment of never criticizing other evangelicals by name. Falwell broke this rule because they made it personal by removing the stained glass window with his father’s likeness from the chapel at Southwestern seminary. Personally, I think the window should have been removed because it is tacky and idolatrous, but of course that’s not why they removed it.

Brethren,

I am sorry, I really had no idea that Russell Moore was so bad. Dreher, I have heard good and bad things about. I have heard of the Benedict Option and that it was causing a stir, so to speak among evangelicals, but didn't quite know what to make of it.

Funny providence, I was thinking of going to the conference but decided not to because there is a Scottish Games that I want to go to instead.

This must have been a most unexpected thread result! Consider yourself “woke” to the topic. ;)
