Puritan Board Freshman
I am looking for a church to recommend to a troubled young man that lives east of Glasgow in the Calton area. His postal code is G40 2JY.

I am an ocean away. I have been hearing from him for over a year, and he is asking for a recommendation.

East of Glascow? There Woodgreen Presbyterian in Calgary, Alberta. That's pretty close to the same latitude if you go far enough east.

It isn't clear where you are looking. I can't find a Calton, Scotland as a town on Google maps. I find a Calton Hill area of Edinburgh looking east of Glasgow, and a Calton Community Fire Station in Glasgow pretty close in. The postcode looks like it isn't too far from the fire station, Looks like there is a Free Church Continuing about 3 miles from the fire station.

Thank you for this.

I was not clear on the area he was in either. Obviously, I am not a local. However, your recommendation is three miles from him. I am not going to bother to look any farther. I am considering this a bull's-eye.

I am trying to establish a contact there now. Thank you.

I am out of touch with the church scene in Glasgow. I lived there for 3 years but was more in the Hillhead area rather than the Parkhead area where G20 is and I no longer know anyone living in the town. Since leaving the city all these years ago half that area seems to have been knocked down and rebuilt. The church scene has changed considerably as the likes of the Tron have seceded from the Church of Scotland. I don't know whether your friend has a car or not but public transport is quite good.

That said, I have a couple of ministerial friends who are outside Glasgow and can contact them and see what they say. Will let you know what they say.

He's less than 2 miles from the Tron church, where Sinclair Ferguson used to be pastor (now no longer part of the Church of Scotland). Glasgow has decent public transport, so it should be accessible to him.

Thank you for this tip. I reached out to someone there, but have not received a reply yet. I may have found him a local contact though.

I enjoyed learning about this church, its past, and what our Lord is doing now.

As an aside, I will be starting one of your books soon. I appreciate your work.

Thank you. I appreciate this. Any contact could prove to be useful, but we may have one now.

I appreciate the responses. I knew this would be the right place to ask. The leads here was the start I needed.

I am hoping that he has a contact and will make contact with a ministry in the Barlanark Scheme. It is part of the 20 Schemes ministry. I do not know what the Lord's will is for him is, but this may be a good place to start. He may feel more comfortable there.

I have friends in Glasgow in a church in the West end. Obviously you're looking for the East end, but they may be able to help. Feel free to pm me, if you're interested.
