David has many sad imprecations, in his Psalms, not only against Gods enemies, but, also, against his own enemies. And yet, this came not of that private affection, to be reveneged of them, but, David respected this, that, God should be glorified, in rendering vengeance, to the sinner.

I've grown more and more convinced of the Messianic Consciousness view of Psalms, which I think helps me better understand imprecatory Psalms (as spoken appropriately by Christ who can and will judge with righteousness).
