Reformed Covenanter

Cancelled Commissioner
I recently re-watched the 1971 film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Towards the end of it, there is a song containing the following words,

What do you get from a glut of TV?
A pain in the neck and an IQ of 3!
Why don't you try simply reading a book?
Or could you just not bear to look?

The Oompa Loompas had a lot of lyrical wisdom.

Who do you blame when your kid is a brat Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat?
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The mother and the father!

I am disappointed with Mr. Wonka because he is the only outsider who knows the Oompa Loompa language but, instead of translating the bible into Oompa Loompa, he exploited them to work in his poison factory. The Great Commission is for the Oompa Loompa tribe as well.

Plus, that kid's poor sick family member is defrauding the government for disability. The dude is bed-bound but just get a free golden ticket and he is up and walking around like normal.

I watched the 2005 film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday. I ignored it previously because I do not like Jonny Depp (or whatever his name is), but it was pretty good. It is a shame that they did not keep that song from Willy Wonka, however.

I always point out that I went to school with one of the actors in that movie...

I think you’d find this entertaining!

I love the original movie, Gene Wilder was brilliant.

Perg, Wonka saved the Oompa Loompas from the Whangdoodles, the Hornswogglers, and the Snozzwangers. Instead of translating, he taught the Oompas English so they could benefit from not only the Bible, but from Puritan Paperbacks.

Wycliffe Bible Translators would not approve; they always focus on the concept of "heart-language" translations. Thus, they would fight the strategy of teaching them English.

We should train the Oompa-Loompas in theology and send them back as indigenous evangelists to these other tribes. Soon we shall celebrate the first glorious Oompa-Loompa martyrs.
