There is a Man in my friend group, He is 36 years old and has not kept a job for more that 3 weeks as his parents have raised him. that if he doesnt feel good mentally that he should "Come straight home" in the middle of any shift. (after he stops by and runs thier errands" he is convinced that any job has to be 100% fun all the time and if its not its not right for him. But they also yell at him for not having a job and paying them rent. My friend group has been doing what can be done talking to him and his parents as we want him (as does he though only through his words) to get a fulltime job and become self sufficiant. I know that his parents are not always goint to be there, and when they do pass hes going to be left with no skills or experiance to take care of himself.
As Im moving out soon and getting married, My friend the owner of this house has reached out to him about taking my room I could leave most of my furniture and they would help him find a job being lack on rent until he could pay a minimal 300 a month or utilities (around 250).
Are there any good biblical counseling resouces about any situations like this? of fathers/Sons is there any experience That could be helpfull. because what I fear and ive seen this with others is if something were to happen by the LORD'S soveriegnty and his net were to callapse today he would not be able to take care of himself.

Sounds like his parents were ahead of the trend...

I am not sure of anything Biblical other than perhaps some resources on how coddling screws up kids.

Why not the book of Proverbs?

Pro 1:1-4 KJV 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

There is tremendous hope for this young man.

Your friend, the owner of the house, should count the cost before renting to this 36-year-old man. He should make sure he has a good rental contract etc. because he is most likely going to end up evicting him. This has been my personal experience multiple times as a landlord and we became dangerously close to having squatters living perpetually in our house due to covid laws. If parents don't want to take the responsibility to give their children tough love when they need it then perhaps an institution can reform them. It may seem like he is doing a great service and giving this man a second chance but if his flesh is so strong that he can't function as a healthy member of a free society that gives so many graces already then he is not likely to function well under a landlord.

I would say that there is little hope for this middle aged dude.

What do you base this assertion on? The Hebrew word for "young man" in Proverbs 1:4 is "na'ar" and it literally means a "youth" or "young man". It's application can reach as old as a man in his 30's such as Isaac (Gen 22:5). Unless he has physiological hindrances (such as autism for example), there is no reason he cannot turn his ship around in the right direction. It's a sin and a violation of the fifth commandment to say there is no hope for him, or anyone for that matter when the book of Proverbs itself has a hopeful outlook in its very introduction from the wisest mortal man who ever lived.

Dude is 36 (and some change, unless he just had a birthday. Average male life expectancy in Texas is 73.7 years. (last year's numbers, life expectancy has been dropping since Biden took office). Slightly longer for Hispanics (better than even chance of being Hispanic in San Antonio). But any way you slice it the guy is statistically about half way through his life. And while the Air Force or Navy might take him, he's too old to drop off at the Marine recruiting station.

As an old codger, I hate to have to be the one to pop your balloon, but 36 is not a young man. And if he hasn't launched by now, he probably won't.

It is true that some people do change their ways in life, but most people do not. If it were me, I would make my judgments and expectations of him based off of his character right now, and not what he could be in the future. What is he currently doing right now to prove that he is a wise and honorable man of character? If you don't see that in him right now, I wouldn't expect anything different in the future. I only say this from life experience.
