These two books are at the printers now and are scheduled to be released somewhere between August 20 and September 1.
1. "Faith" by Jeremiah Burroughs. This book is comprised of two titles not printed since the 1600's: "Precious Faith" and "The Saints' Walk by Faith." Antiquarian bookseller David Lachman of Philadelphia says that of all the Jeremiah Burroughs titles, these two are the scarcest to find. The book is approximately 280 pages long, hard-bound, printed on acid-free paper, and stitch-sewn. The retail price is $28. Until September 1, the release date, it is offered for $20 + $5 postage.
The first title is from 2 Peter 1:1: "To them that have obtained like 'precious faith' with us." Burroughs deals with what faith is, what faith does, how faith glorifies God, and many other things.
The second title is from 2 Corinthians 5:7: "For we walk by faith, not by sight." Burroughs deals with the great evil of walking by sense, how reason is not that which should guide a Christian, how to walk by faith when God appears to be an enemy, and numerous other important teachings.
Both books have been retypeset, slightly edited, and slightly modernized.
2. "Preparing for Eternity," by Mike Gendron. The author is a Dallas-based evangelist, who was a devout Roman Catholic for 34 years. It please God to open his eyes to biblical truth, and he has devoted his life ever since to showing Catholics the differences between their traditions and the teachings of God's Word.
Gendron deals with the issues of authority, assurance of salvation, tradition versus Scripture, the proper role of Mary, purgatory, the issue of "merit," and other issues that divide Rome from Scripture. He also has a lengthy chapter in which he interacts with Romanists who have asked him questions or attacked his teachings.
Of this book John MacArthur said: "Carefully and convincingly, this helpful book demonstrates that the ‘gospel’ taught in Roman Catholicism is not the true gospel found in the Bible. I heartily recommend Mike Gendron’s work in these pages, as well as his continued ministry through Proclaiming the Gospel.”
This is a paperback book, 250 pages in length. The retail price on this book is $15. It is offered at the pre-publication price of $10 until September 1, plus + postage.
