I find only one person who doesn't bore me in the male singers this year.
And I learned from a blog called Cranach written by Gene Edward Veith
(the vocation guy) that Chris Sligh -the big ol boy (that is what they call guys like us here in Texas) has an interesting statement at the intro to his own blog.

That's very cool as I have been rooting for him since his audition. I also like a few of the girls, but Chris is by far my favorite male singer on the show.

Yep that album Take a Chance on Something Beautiful is something I would buy right now.

He doesn't need the Idolizers. It sounds like really great driving down the highway music. There are some strong lyrics as well.
The kid should hope with all his heart he is a runner-up free of any contractual stuff with AI where he has to do pop music.

Some postmodern hogwash from one of his blog entries found here

He says of what we have faith in we cannot be sure. What of this passage?

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Joshua,

I don't want to speak for Chris, but I think you are misunderstanding what he said. I think he is talking about scientific assurance, and he is right. If faith were scientific, it wouldn't be faith at all.

On the other hand, I really appreciated what he wrote in his blog entry here.

Joseph, no doubt, but my point is that faith is a matter of surety. Saying things like "As Christians, we put our faith in a book written by a bunch of men who claim to have been inspired by the Spirit of God. Okay, I'm a Christian and that sounds both fishy and spooky to me..." is really quite disheartening. Why would he find that "spooky" or "fishy"?

It sounds to me as if he is playing devil's advocate (pun intended) by looking at the Christian Faith from a non-believer's POV to make his point. But, I agree that it is quite disheartening to see that argument made. What did you think about the other blog entry I posted from him?

Theological views aside, he's got one of the better male voices this year. However, his "look" will tend to lock him in the "gimmick" category by and large. It's hard to root for him after all of the terrible things he's done to Krusty and Bart over the years, but... alas, I'll show him grace.

:)

I liked the guy but I'm blown away by his band and album due out. Be sure to check out his band's website and MySpace site:

I got his album in from Amazon on Monday. I have to say that it is the best overall album I've bought in a long time. Excellent craftsmanship from the production work, vocals, lyrics, guitar work, etc. We should all hope that he goes far but doesn't win so he doesn't get locked into their program. His album is in the top 250 on Amazon which is incredible for an indie release. Check it out and support him by buying the album.

Whatever that one dude's name is...Jamaya or something...he's HORRIBLE. He cannot carry a tune in a bucket. How in the world has he made it thus far?

Little pre teen girls who liked the character Mowgli in the Jungle Book have to be all that is keeping this kid afloat. Somebody jam their cell phones.
