My tastes, I guess, were a bit more refined:

Jerry Jeff Walker and the Lost Gonzo Band. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. New Riders of the Purple Sage. And why not Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers?

Ah, my formative years. Thank God that he could reach through the haze and snatch me from my youth.

Van Halen hasn't been mentioned. Their first couple of releases came in the 70's.

By the way, I qualified by saying that they were my favorite groups in the 70's.
