A picture of innocence

The impact of this may not be appreciated by those not familiar with everyday life in Northern Ireland but I was struck by the innocence of a young boy in our congregation. During the recent union flag protests Union Jacks have appeared on lamp posts all over the place. One mother in the church was telling me about one flag that appeared on a lamp post near her house. Her 4 year old son asked about it and the mother told him that was the flag of our country.

"But that's not like the flag outside uncle Gerard's house?" said her son
"Well some people think the red, white and blue one is our flag and others think the green, white and gold one is correct flag" replied the mum.
Her son was amazed. "Wow! Aren't we lucky having two flags"

Childlike innocence, how refreshing.

Trust that the Lord will show him the Ensign on the holy hill of Zion,
and that he will in time lift it up against the pretences o f Rome. But for now may he enjoy
this time of political innocence.
,Lo,children are God's heritage,
the womb's fruit his reward.
The sons of youth as arrows are,
for strong men's hands prepared.
