No, I'm not starting trouble again! I am grossly ignorant of many of the Baptist subgroups (for lack of a better term). I am researching the churches in a particular county of Kentucky for a member who will be traveling, and I happened across several churches listed as "Separate Baptists." What exactly is a "Separate Baptist"?

I also see there are a couple of "United Baptist." I assume they are somehow related. Well, what's a "United Baptist"? :D

Here is what Wikipedia says: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separate_Baptists]Separate Baptists - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

From what I can glean, it appears the United Baptists are a union between Regular Baptists and Separate Baptists in KY. I suppose who didn't want to join remained Separate Baptists. The Uniteds appear to be similar to Primitive Baptists in KY, while the Separates are more evangelically Calvinistic. That is, of course, assuming neither group became liberalized or Arminianized over the years. Any clues on this? :detective:
