A Reformed Look At Christian Hedonism-4

When I speak of the Golden Era of Puritanism, I'm speaking about the greatest advancement of global Reformed orthodoxy, not the modern hybrids of theological mixture (reductionism, arminianism, Pentecostalism, ecumenicism, Anabaptism). What do you mean by Modern Mission Movement? Carey, Hudson etc? Each of these men were greatly influenced by the WCF in ideiology.

Documenting this could be tedious at best. I would suggest volume 2 of A. J Whylie's "History of Protestantism" followed by "Scottish Christian Heritage" by Iain Murray. Part of the description says, “For 300 years a school of evangelical Christianity changed Scotland as a nation. Passing on the evangel of the Reformation, and growing stronger in persecution, it turned a people to the Bible, and finally gave many of its best sons and daughters to the ends of the earth. For fidelity, joyful perseverance in hardship, and improbable advance, the record remains a witness to the faith that overcomes the world...As various recent publications have indicated, Scotland exercised an influence on world history out of all proportion to its size. But the real reason for this has been obscured. It will be found here, however. And in the discovery of it the reader will be introduced to a wealth of little-known literature that is a vital part of the inheritance of the whole Christian church.”

The Westminster era was not a missions movement proper, but it did transform the world as it sent out adherents to all corners of the globe.

Blessings!
