Rejoice Christian Software has this available. It is commentary from the first 700 years. They say many of the titles included are in the English language for the very first time.

Yes, I don't have the software, but I have nearly every one of these volumes, thus far published, in hardback. Many of these translations of various extracts from the fathers are new, but many excerpts are drawn from existing translations of the fathers. This series is patterned after the medieval glossa ordinaria, which was widely used by contemporary theologians and well into the time of the reformation.

How were you able to acquire these? It seems they would be, but are they considered "rare" as to be found in hardback?

P.S. DTK, would you say the electronic form is worth the $289 they're asking?

The Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture is not a rare set. They are newly published volumes by InterVarsity Press, and are readily available at Amazon, hardback bound. The first 12 volumes (there'll be more to follow) comprise the content of this new CD, where they will be available for the first time in electronic format. And yes, I think they're worth $289. But keep in mind that their worth will vary, not so much from volume to volume, but from each commentary of a particular father to the next. These volumes also include the comments of ancient heretics, such as Pelagius.

Moreover, though the whole series is edited by Tom Oden, each individual volume has its own editor. They assigned men from very different ecclesiastical backgrounds to do each volume, Reformed, Anglican, broadly evangelical, Roman Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox. And each editor of each volume chooses the range of fathers that will be cited in his particular volume. The volumes and their editors can be viewed here...
