But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6
As we live in an ever-growing secular age where people are searching for truth in science and other sources outside of Scripture it is a real danger that Christian people follow the crowd. It is important that we remain steadfast in our belief in the things of God. It is important that we are ready to give an answer for the hope within us. As we see many people turn away from true religion the people of God must remain faithful.

Doubt and unbelief are real enemies of the Christian. They rob us of our joy and trust in our Lord and Saviour. We learn in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that unbelief is rooted in sin nature. When we become a believer, we are made new in Christ. Therefore, we must focus on the things of Christ and not our old selves. We also learn from the Apostle Paul that everything that does not proceed from faith is sin (Romans 14:23). There is a battle raging in the heart of each one of us. A battle between two desires. A war between faith and doubt. Let me encourage you today to feed the desire to serve God and starve the desire that draws you away from God.

Here are some helpful questions to consider.
1. Are you often filled with more doubt than faith?
2. Do you tend to worry and fret than trust God?
3. Are you fully resting in God’s unchanging promises?
4. Do you often find yourself in a state of anxiousness?
5. Do you make excuses for your worry?
6. Have you let disappointments weaken your faith and prayer life?

A pattern of worry is not just a weakness it is a sin against God. God promises peace to those who trust in Him. Do you need to confess unbelief and doubt before God? Search the depths of your heart and confess all sin of doubt and unbelief. Ask the Lord to give you a heart of faith. Ask God to fill your mind with thoughts that will build you up in faith. Do not let the devil get a foothold in your life. We have every reason to trust in the promises of God. All of God’s promises are for our spiritual well being. Remember dear soul that Christ has promised to never leave nor forsake those who are his.
