I have a homeschool mom who is asking for recommendations on the Crusades and Just War Theory. Actually a book that spoke about the circumstances surrounding the Crusades that integrated Just War Theory would be excellent.

This is aimed at high school age so it can't be a tome. If there is an accessible book or books for both topics then that would be great.

@raydixon9 wow!!! I just read that and my mind is blown!!!! Thanks for sharing

While this isn't what you're looking for, if someone wants to understand how the piety of the Crusaders informed their actions, and yet how their actions were not necessarily commendable, Geoffroy de Villehardouin's The Conquest of Constantinople is very engaging. Naturally, it's only about the Fourth Crusade. It can be found together with Jean de Joinville's The Life of Saint Louis in a very accessible Penguin Classics edition called Chronicles of the Crusades. One wonderful quote, of many:

"For, as wise men say, a man does a very foolish thing when through fear of death he commits an act that will be a reproach to him for ever."
