Book on Basic Textual Criticism

I'm looking for a book on basic NT textual criticism that can talk about this stuff in layman's terms. I'm interested in the learning more about the different families of manuscripts and why some are held in higher esteem than others. Do any of you know of any such book?

I am taking New Testament intro next semester and decided to buy the books ahead of time. "New Testament textual criticism, a concise guide" by David Allen Black is a very short and easy read. Published by bakerhouse.
