Puritan Board Freshman
I am going to be teaching on the history of Puritanism in the coming months and how God worked so much good through the Puritans. I would like book recommendations that would aid me in my study of this grand subject! I would like books that focus more on the preaching, piety, and usefulness of the puritan ministry and less on the political involvement.

Here is what I have so far:
Meet the Puritans (already read, will prove to be a great resource for this teaching), Joel Beeke & Randall Pederson
The English Puritans, John Brown
Why read the Puritans Today?, (our own) Don Kistler
The Puritans on Conversion, from Soli Deo Gloria
Quest for Godliness, J.I. Packer

Thanks for the recommendations! :book2:

George Marsden's biography on Jonathan Edward would be useful for the latter American portion. I realize a biography seems rather narrow, however, this book is known for its excellence in describing the setting, particularly the social and philosophical settings.
