Anton Bruckner

Puritan Board Professor
"rap music doesn't require any talent to perform it, any moron can do it" :D:bigsmile:that made my day. if only I could roll on the floor and laugh.

from the sermon, Contemporary Worship Condemned.

I like his blunt style. he can get his own radio talk show.

a lot of angry callers would be fuming at the ears.

Why don't some of you try rappin' for us all, if it's so universally simple? :D

You asked for it

All right stop collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I'm killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull's eye the kid don't play
If there was a problem yo I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

I disagree with Brian. "some" rap can be very intellectual, poetic, and technical (i.e. "beat-boxing", etc). Rapping that is done only by improv is even more difficult.

Although, I generally do not listen to rap because most of it is very explicit. Still, the small portion that is done well and has "clean" content REQUIRES ALOT OF TALENT..and not just any "moron" can do it!

When Brian was ministering here in Lansing, he and Pastor Steve Pribble had a public access TV Show. One of my pagan, liberal, pro choice, coworkers woould not let her teenage son watch the show. She said, "those two preacher dudes and their ten commandments could really warp young minds."

Remember Ninja Turtles 2?

Splinter: Were you seen?
Turtles: No, master. We practice Ninjitsu, the art of invisibility.
Splinter holds up a front page newspaper with the Banner "Ninja Rap is born."
Splinter: 10 flips now! And remember, "Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!"

actually dats good. I used the Ghost Face Killa style to read this. (Ghost Face Killa is one of the original members of Wu Tang)

That is actually a very stupid statement. It doesn't help anything to make it. If you want to critique the aesthetic of rap music, that's one thing. But to say "anyone could do it" or it requires no talent is just ignorant. I hope he had more to say than that quote would suggest. He just comes off like those people who say rock music is inherently satanic.

Living in NYC, I'm privileged to be amongst many talented and diverse artists.

Anyway, here is a Christian Rapper that goes by the name Richie Righteous. I think his father was a Pastor that died when he was young, but now he is a blazing Christian.

turn up your volume before clicking on the link Richie Righteous

Ps. don't let Schwertley come across this link ;)

I'll be polite.

Schwertley's an idiot for this statement.

I always love the 'anybody can do it' statements.... no, anybody CAN'T do it... and sound good.

Aside from CM, you'll also want to check out CHRISTcentric - http://www.christcentric.net. All three brothers are reformed (apologist goes to shady grove PCA, evangel goes to my church and Q goes to Hope Bible Church, which is MacArthur-related).

He'll also want to check out shai linne and Timothy Brindle from lampmode records.

There's also Flame, who is a 1689er.

Eurocentrically moronic statements like this have no place in the pulpit.

Thanks for weighing in Kerry, I'm witchu. And thanks for the links.

" Bob, wanna make a rap album? We could be called: North and South, Old (Bob) and Young (Josh)-Kidding"

I've got a good start Josh, my kids love hip-hop. I of course screen every word. I love to watch my 2 year old break dance, he's amazing. I've written some rap songs myself just to show them that I can. (I just don't have the street cred' to back up the talent.

Remember Josh, I may be old but I have a two and a five year old. Tehehehe. I wrote a rap for my youngest and he almost has it down:

They call me "D" and you might disagree
but that's me, shoutin' out t'my peeps
I'm Denzel, and you might do well
To spell, D-E-N-Z-E-L
I'm Denzel, I'm as fast as a train
I can stop on a dime and give ya' nine cents change
So take a picture quick and go buy the frame
Cuz I'm petty good lookin' and I got the name,
I'm Denzel

Say what cha yall want about rap but my two year old can spell his name cuz.
Blessings and peace-out.

Doggone it John! I've been sitting here for 20 minutes trying to come up with a clever come back and you know what? I can't! I'm just going to concede. That was an excellent zinger and an unusually brief post for you. A combination of economy and wit - very well done brother. I'm proud to know ya. :handshake:

Are you saying I'm longwinded? I'm just trying to practice my writing skills; you know, saying as little as possible but doing it very well.

By the way, I forgot the smilie face in the last post, so here it is: :p

Oops, wrong one.

:D

Oh yeah, they are poppin'. You've got to at least listen to the song "Reformation". Martin would have loved it. Awesome. I still have goose bumps. Oh man!!!!!!!
