Need 4 Creed

Puritan Board Freshman
Hi Folks,

I ran a free promotion of this eBooklet a few months back, with amazon, you can only do it a limited number of times.

It is free for the next four days-- feel free to share it on Facebook/Twitter etc., by and large the feedback has been quite good.

Part of my own transition was influenced by some of the discussions on this website over some years.

If you have read the eBooklet (or do read it) and you find it helpful, please consider writing a review.

Thanks and many blessings,

John

Please study the history of this movement from Parham through Azusa and off into all the bizarre places it has gone before you put any sort of credence in it.

Where would one find such a history?
Plenty of stuff out there. Google Charles Parham, Azusa Street Mission, Agnes Ozman, William J. Seymour, etc. You'll find this movement rooted in the Holiness movement of the late 1800's that branched away into an anti-intellectual mysticism. The history has been washed and dressed up by the pentecostal/charismatic denoms of today, but the reality is that it started with a guy (Parham) that rejected education and careful study for emotionalism and imbued knowledge so-called. Agnes Ozman was the first recorded modern instance of glossolalia, and it was a complete sham, but started a fire that has yet to burn out. People are always hungry for autonomous spiritual power, and Parham & Co. fed that hunger.

MacArthur's book 'Strange Fire' also goes into the background.
