Isaiah 55:13, the context being God's word will quicken (the clapping trees) to eternal life. In whichever field he sows, God's word never returns void, but invigorates. This passage reminds me of Christmas, and for the last two years I've meditated on chapter 55.Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
for an everlasting sign which shall not be cut off.
The world in my latitude is now gray and dead, except for the evergreens (myrtles/cypress); the sign of God's work in the briar field we call earth, is the foolish preaching of His word to nettles, and simple faith.
1 Corinthians 1:1For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I don't know if I'll ever celebrate Christmas, when I'm out on my own, I know some choose not to. However, I should know the only Christmas tree that matters is God's quickening Word. Under His tree is real treasure, and, unlike all the other Christmas trees, only the good boys and girls will get anything.
Proverbs 4:8Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her.
This ends my devotional, I hope there's a lesson in it for you.
