Bob Dylan has been nominated for it every year since 1996. Apparently, he's under serious consideration this year.

The smart money still says he won't get it. First, he's an American - usually an evil thing with Nobel literature committees. Second, he's a lyricist and songwriter, not a novelist or poet. No songwriter has ever won a Nobel, and the smart money is saying that Dylan won't be the first.

Still, Winston Churchill won the Literature Prize (1953) for his historical and biographical writings - not novels or poetry. And Dario Fo won the Prize (1997) and he's a playwright and an actor; like Dylan, his works have to be performed in front of an audience.

So, the door is not completely shut on Dylan. So, never say never.

We'll know tomorrow (Thursday, 10/6) when the Literature Prize is announced.

When I saw that thread title I thought for a moment you must mean Bawb - there are other Bawbs?
