Crazy intense and fast piano music

Bach has some great harpsichord concerti with rip-roaring finales. As well, many of the pieces found in the Well-Tempered Clavier, two and three part inventions, and sections of the Goldberg variations are quite stunning.

I like Bach. :)

Fantasia-Impromptu Op. 66 by Chopin is a technically-demanding and spirited piece in parts.

Liszt's La Campanella.

Prokofiev's Piano Sonata #3, Op.28. Here is the first movement:

Have you heard of Jon Schmidt's Waterfall? It's pretty fast-ten pages in three minutes- and nice sounding, but not really "crazy intense." :)

This is kind of a late reply to this topic, but I was working on this song today, and thought it might fit the description.

For an example of crazy intense and fast piano music hear this:

For crazy fast and intense, I would recommend the following: Chopin etudes, many of which are crazy (not to mention almost impossible to play well), and the Heroic Polonnaise, Rachmaninoff Preludes and Etudes Tableaux (same as Chopin, though, as with Chopin, not all of them are fast). Mendelssohn's Rondo Cappriccioso is a wonderful piece. There are many, many Liszt pieces that fit this bill. The Mephisto Waltz number 1 is really fun, as is the Sonata in b minor (probably the most intense and rewarding piece I have ever played). Saint-Saens has the Carnival of the Animals, where the donkeys from Tibet have to take pride of place for crazy and intense. Also, the piano concertos by Johann Nepomuk Hummel have to fall in there someplace. There are many Bach pieces: Brandenburg Concerto number 5 has a really wicked cadenza. The concerto for three harpsichords is also wonderful. The Mozart a minor piano sonata is also crazy and intense. You can probably get a gander at most of these pieces on YouTube.

I am looking for crazy intense and fast piano music. Can anybody suggest any?

 Crazy, intense & fast....... with Keith Emerson already on the list, I'll add another: Jordan Rudess, classically trained piano prodigy who plays progressive rock but is very diverse stylistically. I think this vid summs him up pretty well.

Very difficult yes, wicked no. That cadenza is one of the most joyous bits of music I know. Here's Gustav Leonhart's take on it.

Alright, since everyone else is posting vids I will have to post one of my favorites as well. I could listen to Gould play variation 26 all day long. Bach's music just lifts the heart so well!
