While in the hospital with my wife this weekend I read James M. Boice work on Daniel. This was truly a blessing. It was a great read it's not to long only 136 pages. This is not a indepth commentary on every verse in Daniel. He preached these as sermons in his church. It is an over view of chapters. I highly recommend this book I intend to reread the book in a couple of months.

He also suggested to read John Calvin on Daniel. Boice says that there are many reasons why Calvin was so popular. Most people feel that it is because of the passionate and moving way in which the great expositor linked the times of the exiled Daniel to his own. So I intend to start Calvin's work soon.

Two great themes are:
1) God is Sovereign.
2) Holiness or Why We Must Be Holy.
