About the Speaker: Ian Hamilton is the president of Westminster Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Newcastle, England, and a trustee of the Banner of Truth Trust. A pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of England and Wales, he ministered at Cambridge Presbyterian Church for 17 years. Hamilton also is a trustee and adjunct professor at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville, S.C. His books include a commentary on the letters of John published by Banner of Truth Trust in its ‘Let’s Study’ series, “The Faith-Shaped Life,” and “The Gospel-Shaped Life.” He has preached at conferences around the world.

About the Reformation Society of Hawaii: The Reformation Society of Hawaii (RSH) was organized this year by Rev. Douglas Watson of Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian Church and Rev. David Tamaoka of Grace Fellowship Hawaii (Baptist) to influence ministers and churches in the area with the historic Reformed and confessional tradition of Christianity. RSH began meeting bi-monthly this January and also hosts the Hawaii Reformation Society Conference. Reformation Societies, a ministry of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, are designed to encourage, embolden, and equip ministers and other church leaders for the work of Biblical reformation in churches through informal, voluntary gatherings where church leaders meet to support one another in pursuing actual and practical reformation in their churches. Leaders of Reformation Societies are required to subscribe to the Alliance’s Cambridge Declaration and one of the standard historical Confessions such as the Westminster Confession and Catechisms or the London Baptist Confession. The regular gatherings normally include a local pastor as a featured speaker with interaction by other pastors and laypeople attending. Topics planned to be covered by the RSH are: Why We're Confessional: the Legitimacy and Benefits of Confessionalism; the Confessing Church in History; Confessional Subscription: Terms, Types, and Guidelines; Confessions and Worship; Confessions and Church Leadership; Confessions and Church Membership; Confessions and Piety; and Confessions and the Mission of the Church. RSH meetings are also held at Grace Fellowship Hawaii.

About the Alliance: Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Lancaster, Pa., the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals is a coalition of Christian believers who hold to the historic creeds and confessions of the Reformed faith and proclaim biblical doctrine in order to foster a Reformed awakening in today's Church. It primarily does so through broadcasting, printed and online publishing, and special events. It began in 1949 as Evangelical Ministries, which broadcast The Bible Study Hour radio program and published Eternity magazine. It also played a strategic role in the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy, the Cambridge Declaration, and the establishment of the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology.
