Dr. Beeke lucidly sums up the believer's union with Christ:
"Union with Christ, which is one of the gospel’s greatest mysteries, is possible by grace because Christ took on our human nature, filling it with His virtue. This union in turn produces through Spirit-worked faith communion with Christ, by which believers participate in Christ’s benefits. Communion with Christ is the result of the Spirit’s work, which is astonishing and experiential rather than comprehendible. The Holy Spirit is the link that binds the believer to Christ and the channel through which Christ is communicated.
