Puritan Board Senior
I am embarking on an in-depth study on the Song of Solomon. I already have George Burrowes' commentary on the book and I am considering buying James Durham's commentary on the Song of Solomon but having bought quite a lot of books recently I am reluctant to buy yet another book if I already have Burrowes' excellent commentary. I would just like to ask the opinion of the PB members as to which commentary they would consider the better and if you have one would there be any real advantage in buying the other?

This is not a knock against Burrowes but Durham has always been considered the classic typical puritan-Scottish Presbyterian exposition. While it is not going to be ready for your need, I do have on the docket to do the first new edition of Durham since 1840 this year. If you are not looking for a hard copy, several editions are online including the 1840.
