I grew up with the comics, so I expected a certain level. It met me on certain levels and on others it didn't.
I thought the characters were well casted, and the storyline (how they became the Fantastic Four) was just like the comic book. They looked just like they walked out of the comics, right down to Reed Richard's sideburns.
The weakest "acting" of them all was Jessica Alba.
Torch and Thing were outstanding and captured the spirit of the comics. Reed Richards was also great, and Grufford "was" Reed.
Special affects were top notch. TOP notch. The Human Torch, Stretcho, and the amazing makeup of the Thing just made your jaw drop.
My only real gripe is that it would have been much longer (maybe another 20 minutes or so). I just couldn't get enough of Dr. Doom once he became "Doom." There needed to be a longer "tangle" between Doom and F4. But it was good.
Overall, it was very well done.
My wife thought it was very entertaining, but Batman Begins stills hold the high mark. F4 definitely blew away War of the Worlds (which to me was b-o-r-i-n-g, snooze).
Out of 10, F4 gets an 8.0.
Gotta go - clobberin time.
