1) Pink Floyd -- "Comfortably Numb"
2) Led Zeppelin -- "Stairway to Heaven"
3) Boston -- "Don't Look Back"
4) Lynyrd Skynyrd -- "Freebird"

Most anything by Hound Dog Taylor (and bottleneck slide in general):

Anything played by Duane Allman.

This little known piece is one of my faves--

I just thought of another that I've always liked. The solo on Bruce Dickinson's "Tears of the Dragon". I think it starts around the 3:00 mark.

I don't listen to them anymore, but I used to love the solo in Opeth's "A Fair Judgment".

I still listen to them.

I used to listen to them, they had some great songs, I was really into Melodic Death Metal and that crossed over into some Progressive Death Metal stuff, the guy who fronted Opeth was in another band with this guy in the 90's and they released an album in the 90's that was a concept album that I enjoyed back than. Don't know if I'd listen to it now but you guys brought back some memories. I listened to Children of Bodom (had (still have) most of their cds), In Flames, At the Gates, Hypocrisy, Norther, Wintersun. Most of those bands had either language or themes that wouldn't be Christian friendly, although they where not outright "satanic" bands like those in Black Metal.

I just bought the new In Flames cd. Pretty good but not as good as some of the earlier stuff. I listen to alot of different types of metal but my favorite is the 80's/early 90's thrash (Overkill, Flotsam & Jetsam, Exodus, Forbidden, etc.). I plan on going to see Anthrax, Testament & Death Angel in November. Alex Skolnick (Testament) is an awesome guitarist.

I used to listen to a lot of Thrash too. For In Flames I had Clayman and Come Clarity. I kinda want to listen to some now, any recommendations on anything that isn't anti-Christian? A lot of Christian bands of all genres lack originality in both lyrics and music, I love when Johnny Cash was asked if he was a Chrisitan musician he replied by saying "No, I'm a Christian who happens to play music".
