I'm about to finish James Bannermans "Church of Christ". It's extremely sound, thorough, and deals with the doctrine of the church in a way I find extremely helpful when having conversations with Roman Catholics (for which I'm very outnumbered here in the Midwest).
From y'alls experience, what books, lectures, podcast, etc have been helpful when it comes to the doctrine of the church, government, polity, etc?

It's hard to find anything more thorough than Bannerman. Nevertheless, a look at some of the 17th century works might be worthwhile. For example: "Jus Divinum--The Divine Right of Church Government" https://www.heritagebooks.org/produ...SJQ61jqcaX9V-hvYJ_C9g2fj0u4n2k8Dg2qz9O1xtj8-X

Rutherford's "A Defense of the Government of the Church of Scotland" or Gillespie's "Aaron's Rod Blossoming, Or the Divine Ordinance of Church Government Vindicated".

All those were written during a period of very careful examination of church government from the Scottish Presbyterian perspective.

Here is a helpful online resource as well. https://reformedbooksonline.com/topics/topics-by-subject/church-government/
