Free Software to Record Audio?

Does any one have a suggestion for a free downloadable software that can be used to record off a plugged in mic on my computer?

Great program. And the best part is that it's free.

Yep, Audacity is in fact the best around.

Yeah, Audacity hands down. I find that it's a little user-unfriendly, but no other free recorder compares to it.

I haven't used Audacity to record, but I've used it to edit sound files and have been very happy with it.
