Gasp! Our Brothers? Or... Was Augustine wrong?

In his writings, Augustine clearly considers Pelagianism to be heresy.
However, in dealing with Semi-Pelagianism he is much more pastoral. While he believes it is wrong, and therefore argues against it quite convincingly, he actually commends where it is correct and refers to adherents as "our brothers."

I'm just curious about the opinion of my fellow PBers:

Was Augustine wrong?
