I have recently been doing some research on my Mom's side of the family. Well the focus as of late has been on the "Flournoy" line of the ancestors. To complicate matters my Grandma swore they were Belgian (Flemish to be precise) and to make a long story short they are not. Turns out they are of French ancestry from the Champagne region. Well much to my joy guess what I find out tonight.

I found this guy.

Laurent Flournoy

Born: 1523, Magneux Pres, Champagne, France
Died: December 08, 1593, Geneva, Switzerland

Laurent Flournoy was a French Huguenot and he fled from Champagne to Geneva, Switzerland after the Duke of Guise led the protestant massacre at Vassey in 1562. (for those keeping score at home John Calvin died in 1564)

Take a guess at what Laurent's son's (who was born in Geneva) name was?

Jean Flournoy.

Evidently the Flournoy's lived in Geneva for generations before coming to America in the 1700's...
