In Genesis 1:28 we read that God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. How are we to view this verse? Should we see it as an actual command of God? Was it technically the very first command?

In Eden man seemed so preoccupied with the tree that I believe they were in violation of both commands. Was it part of the deception of the serpent to get Adam and Eve to ignore the command of God to be fruitful and multiply? If this was a command of God is it something that Christians should still do?

I believe that we are still asked to do this. I believe the Great Commission is a continuation of the very first command.
