Just a short question,

Can anyone help me with what is the bilblical response to 'accidental' murders? Things like death resulting from careless driving etc?

Is there a biblical distinction between different degrees of negligence, for example between drunk driving and ' i just took my eyes of the road for a second'?

Look at the OT passages that deal with the goring oxe and the flying axe head. It differentiates between accidental and purposeful neglect.

For instance I have to stop suddenly in my car and my brakes go out and I injure/kill someone. That could be accidental. Now, let's say that I knew I had bad brakes and I have just failed to get them fixed. Now I would say that I was guilty of murder. Makes me sober to think that preventative car maintenance can actually be viewed as fulfilling the general equity of the OT Mosaic judicial laws.
