Gospel Harmony Question

So I was reading the Young Ruler story in Mark, Matt. and Luke and was wondering why is there different wording between them if they are supposed to be in harmony? I mean to a degree they are still...

why is there different wording between them if they are supposed to be in harmony?

Each of the Gospel writers wrote to a different audience and with different emphases. Why should we assume they are 'supposed to be in harmony?' We know they are not contradictory, but that doesn't mean they have to be in harmony.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean by 'harmony'. 'Harmony' is more than one part working together to make a greater whole. The Gospels are in harmony because they contain different details from different sources for different audiences and different purposes. If they all contained the exact same details they wouldn't be in harmony, they would be in 'unison'.

If you asked 4 different 9/11 witnesses about what they saw that day, you would probably get different details from each. You harmonize those differences together to get a greater understanding of the whole event. Testimonies do not contradict just because they have different details.
