I have never heard this before.

Shel Silverstein was very talented writer (famous for authoring The Giving Tree and popular songs for the 70's folk band, Seals and Croft), but he was not a model of godliness. He was associated with Playboy magazine and other secular interests.

It seems to me, songs like these borderline a violation of the third commandment.
