Homosexual "marriage" in Scotland - update

The Scottish government today announced that they will bring forward legislation, probably in 2015, to allow "same sex marriage". The recent consultation process generated 80,000 responses - more than the consultation on independence. The BBC are not mentioning how these 80,000 were divided - so they must have been opposed to any change in the law.

England and Wales will not be far behind. Please keep praying for God to rise up new Knoxs and Wycliffes.

Indeed. Here in the U.S. an executive of a private company such as Chic Fil A can't even make a comment in defense of traditional marriage without provoking a firestorm of angry responses and threatened boycotts. Even Jay Leno has made it a topic of ridicule the last two nights on the Tonight Show.

What I don't understand is why homosexual civil unions are considered an issue? The bigger issue we should really discuss is why is homophilia is legal. Many still regard homosexuality as a personal freedom, and if one holds to that idea of personal liberties, why should you care whether they they enter a civil contract. We need a Calvin to address the libertines in the church.

The BBC didn't mention it because it was two thirds against redefining. 67% of the 80,000 who responded were against.

The apparently impartial BBC reported right under that almost hidden statistic that without postcard and petition responses it was 65% in favour. Implying that there is less value to these votes.
The other excuse is that "other polls" suggest a majority are in fact in favour. An absolute load of rubbish. What's the point in doing an official government public consultation if polls by liberal newspapers and gay rights organisations are going to be held in higher esteem? They didn't mention that polls held by conservative newspapers and Christian organisation all showed a majority against.

The government is an absolute disgrace, they pretended to care about what the people thought and now that we've told them they've hidden the result as best as possible and decided not to listen to it.

If it was a majority in favour the percentage would be in the BBC headlines and would be all over the SNPs statements.

David - very true. The whole "consultation" process was a farce - the government had already decided on their course of action. Only the Lord can save these islands from the further legalization of sin.

This is how we're praying, and it's very good to know others are praying with us.

The threat of so-called gay "marriage" has belatedly concentrated a few people's minds in the mainstream churches, and that's good, but it's all rearguard action. Marriage as God gave us it has already been thoroughly deconstructed by easy no-fault divorce, and above all by the removal of shame from adultery or cohabitation or illegitimacy.
To call what homosexuals do "marriage" is really not much more than a logical conclusion of all that.

When God goes anything goes. If you don't turn them on they will turn on you. Having said that one should not forget 1 Corinthians 5:12-13. We may preach 3.000 sermons and see one person converted; it was different on the day of Pentecost. Instead of lamenting the evils of the day (wasn't it worse in the first century?) the Word is to be preached - in and out of season, with Holy Ghost power! Christ does reign in the midst of all His enemies!
