How would I view a MP4 video file?

I have several Mp4 video files and can't seem to find anything to play them. I have tried to convert them using several free converters, but to no avail.

One of them I downloaded actually stated that the file was a Quicktime file, but Quicktime does not recognize it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate the reply. I have Apple quick time and the movie properties state that the movie is Quick time mp4, but quick time does not recognize the file.

Add 1 to your MP3 player.

Some free programs that should be able to play the files:

VLC Player
iTunes

If neither of those programs can play the file, I would begin to be suspicious of the file.
