"There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he
shall pray for it."

This Scripture has been difficult for many folks. Some associate the "sin" to the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the gospels. What do you and the commentators think of this verse?

I know there is nothing new under then sun, but I do have an opinion. It is wrong to pray for people to get saved, apart from faith in Christ: either the lands that have not the gospel, or perhaps our loved ones who are dying without Christ. "Oh Lord, Save, Kevin, even if he doesn't believe in Jesus", etc.

I would pray for a loved one who is dying and does not know Jesus as Saviour that they would somehow before they died. I think that up to the last there is always hope for that. The thief on the cross next to Christ for example. But I will leave the rest of your question to better minds than I have to answer that.

I agree. I am supposing there are those who want their loved ones to be saved, but somehow think that they can be saved without bowing the knee to Christ.
