In studying 1 Samuel the question has been raised as to whether Saul was regenerate or not. My commentary says not, my sermon series says yes.
The passage that is quoted above (chapter 15) seems to show Saul as more concerned with appearances than with his relationship with the Lord. The verse quoted also seems to emphasise Samuel's relationship with the Lord rather than Saul's. Indeed it begs the question whether Saul has such a relationship at all?
Am I wrong to notice the way that his choice of words distances Saul from the Lord?
