Israel's Government and Worship in Egypt

Is anyone aware of resources or literature that speaks to what the government and/or worship of Israel might have been like while in Egypt?

They certainly had elders (Ex. 3:16,18) and it says that the Lord heard their cry (Ex. 2:23;3:7,9).

The patriarchal worship centred on whole burnt offerings - and sin offerings ? - on altars made of stone or earth. The worship was led by the head of the family or extended clan.

It is difficult to tell how much this had broken down, and how much Israel had succumbed to Egyptian influence, but judging by the golden calf incident, etc, it seems considerable.
