Puritan Board Doctor
One of the biggies of the jazz world died yesterday. Guitarist Jim Hall died at his home in Greenwich Village on Tuesday, just 6 days after turning 83. He played right up to the end, too. His last public concert - capping off his 58-year career - was on November 23, just 17 days before his death. He was an influence on many younger guitarists, such as Pat Metheny and John Frisell. Many of his CDs are available - he recorded profusely - so he will be there to be heard for years to come. A marvellous player.
