Howe was highly regarded, and Spurgeon said a man should sell his shirt, if necessary, to obtain his works. But personally I found them pedantic and very difficult to work through.
 
Also available for free downloading at Google Books is James Marsh's 1830 edition of the Select Practical Works of Rev. John Howe and Dr. William Bates.

Isn't he the one that Iain Murray said is the most philosophical and difficult of the Puritans, and that compared to him John Owen is a piece of cake?
