Do you actually read the book that is most recommended or just use it as a gauge?

No I always read it. I usually end up reading most of the list in the order of voting.

Sounds like fun. I might have to try it this fall. Right now our church is doing a summer book club and we are reading Augustine's Confessions, Edward's Religious Affections, and a' Kempis's Imitation of Christ.

I was genuinely challenged by Packer's book the first year it came out, though Edwards and Charnock are hard to beat.

I voted for Charnock. The title sounded very interesting, even though I am unfamiliar with it.
