O, how we need Jesus!

I have been studying my way through 1st and 2nd Samuel. Lately, since the unavoidable chapter 11 of 2 Samuel, and following, I have been crying my way through the rest of the book. Yet I can arguably say that King David is the most important single figure in the Old Testament. He, even more than Moses, fleshed out the coming of the Kingdom of God on earth. David is preeminently the most significant type of Christ in all of Scripture.

What am I learning? None of us, the very best of us, in ourselves, are good enough--wise enough--or strong enough to do much of anything of use to the Kingdom. We, therefore, pray from a position of dire need, "Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done."

O, how we need Jesus!
