I wasn't sure if this fit best in the apologetic or theological section, but I chose theological. When you are discussing the issues of pain, evil, joy, etc., and the non-believer says, "We can only know good, because of evil." Or, "We can only know joy in contrast to suffering." What would you say? This would lead to Adam and Eve being joyful, etc.

Thanks

This is a fallacy. Adam did know good and joy before the Fall. The angels in heaven know good and joy.

It might be true that we cannot [i:ee6d340033]appreciate[/i:ee6d340033] good and joy to the same degree without the contrast. That, however, is purely conjecture.

This also assumes that the unfallen mind works the same way ours now in discerning good and evil, which is certainly not the case.
