In this context, he seems to be referring to extension. I think his answer to the second question perhaps needs a bit more work, to be honest.

I wonder which opponent would actually hold to an infinitely extended world. It's extended in space, which means it would go on forever. But it's clear, unless you believe in a flat earth (!), that the world doesn't extend infinitely. This is doubly true if it is a globe.

The globe can't extend infinitely, since we see stars in the sky.

Most opponents of the faith have held to an infinite age of the earth.
